FIC: Fruits in Ice Cream

Stall: FIC: Fruits in Ice Cream
Branch: 1st Level SM City Cebu
Food: Ice Cream
Mode of Payment: Cash

(Sorry for the Picture Quality, used my iPhone to take the Photos)

Summer is here and the inevitable heat makes you crave for some sweet cold dessert! FIC or Fruits in Ice Cream has a variety of Filipino and International flavors to feast on. Price starting at 130PHP up a pint (Depending on Flavor) it surely is a treat for groupies. A pint serves 3-4 persons! For those on a diet, Low calorie Ice cream flavors are also available!

We ordered FIC Caramelo con Pastillas which was shared by Onyot, Shakey and I. FIC Caramelo con Pastillas is sweet and had bits of sweet milky pastillas! :) Pastillas bits is a bit less though.

Had been going back to taste different flavors every now and then. FIC is less sweet than commercialized ice cream brands and FIC fruit flavors has more real and natural flavor.

Ka pig outs! Onyot and Shakey!

Another Bad Experience at Spice Fusion!

Restaurant: Spice Fusion
Branch: Sm City Northwing
Restaurant Type: Casual Dining
Food: Asian
Mode of Payment: Cash/Card

(Sorry for the picture quality, used my iphone to take the pics)

Spice Fusion is a blend of several Asian cuisines from Malaysia, Thailand and etc. My college friends Kansah, Dexter, Pipo, Jill, Boboy, Hannah and Ronald loved their BTC (Banilad Town Center Branch) and had frequent dinner meetings there because of good food and service. On the other hand, my family and I had several bad experiences with their branch at SM City Cebu Northwing and had another during dinner a few hours back. After work ing out, Shake, Edd, Nike, Greg, Onyot and I were starving and had Deep fried lapu-lapu craving and decided to dine at Spice Fusion Sm City Cebu Branch. Since it was a bit humid inside we decided to sit at the al fresco area of the resto. After the waiter took our orders, they had the placemats, plates and utensils placed at the side of our table and left , making us set our own table as they mingled with each other.

We started the dinner with roti (90php), a malaysian flatbread (roti tastes like crispy crepe) dipped in curry. I find Spice Fusion's roti better than Banana Leaf's roti.

We then had the Vietnamese Beef Noodle(180php) which serves 3-4 medium appetite persons. Pho style beef noodle soup and rice noodle with thin beef flakes served with basil and bean sprouts!

For our main entree we had Chicken curry (200php), Malay curry infused with coconut milk.

Deep Fried Lapu-lapu (280php), Canton fried Lapu-lapu topped with sweet and chili sauce with mango cubes and veggies. We always order this everytime we dine here and what we all noticed is that the serving was too hot(Chili hot)!

And in the middle of our dinner, we were given the bill because they said their counter will be closing. I think this is rude. Dined at Cafe Laguna, Don Mertos, Gerry's Grill and other restos at the Northwing after 9pm but never had been given a bill while we were eating. After we paid the bill we asked for 6 glasses of house water which never arrived. So much for customer service! Shheeeesh!

Cabalen

Restaurant: Cabalen
Address: SM City Cebu North Reclamation Area Cebu City
Food: Filipino Food
Restaurant Type: Buffet
Mode of payment: Cash

Eat all you can, eat all you want, Cabalen has been serving Cebuanos for more than 2 months now. Cabalen, a Capamgpangan word for "kababayan", is showcasing Capampangan and Filipino Faves like Beringhe, Bulalo, Kalderetang Baka, Gata Kuhol, Dinuguan, Inihaw Na Hito w/ Buro Hipon, Cabalen Sisig, Camaru, Sampelot & Tibok-Tibo to Cebuanos.

Tere(Cabalen's MT Shift Supervisor)tells us on an interview how Cebuanos are very picky with almost anything, and gladly Cabalen has been embraced by Cebuanos with open arms. For 298php per person not bad for a course of more than 15 dishes and a halo halo bar.

Growing up in a Tagalog household, I am a big fan of Tagalog Dishes and I love Karekare and bagoong. The Cabalen karekare might be on the light side(taste wise) but the bagoong made it a whole lot better! I also love Crispy Kangkong dipped in Mayo! yum! Pancit! yumyum!

We also asked Tere which Cabalen pasalubong items are big hits ad bagoong and Taba ng Talangka are Cabalen's Customer Favorites.

Nonki

Restaurant: Nonki
Branch: SM City Cebu Fiesta Strip
Restaurant Type: Casual Dining
Mode of Payment: Cash/ Card
Food: Japanese

Another lazy afternoon, Edd, Greg and I were strolling around SM and craved for some Japanese for lunch. It was already 2 and yeap we are used to having late lunches and dinners due to our very hectic schedule. hehe. A good Japanese resto inside SM is Nonki! Service is great and the food is good!

Before starting the meal, we were given wet towels with moisturizer to cleanse our hands. Misu soup and potato coleslaw were also served compliments of Nonki!

I love California Maki! And definitely one of the best Cali Maki I had was Nonki's! Their Bento meals are well seasoned and are gratifying. Their Ebi tempura are whole tiger shrimps unlike some other resto wherein the cut the shrimps into half.

Harbour City Dimsum

Restaurant: Harbour City Dimsum
Branch: Ground Level SM City Cebu
Restaurant Type: Fastfood
Food: Chinese Dimsum
Mode of Payment: Cash/Card

After Sunday bowling session with my family and friends, we chowed on some dimsum as requested by my nephew Lenard. Cebuanos just love MSG! Harbour City has been loved by Cebuanos as far as I can remember. My brother Reymond just adores Harbour City, as well as his son CJ. Though service is a bit slow and dawdling, Cebuanos still are fond of the MSG filled Dimsum dishes!

We always start our Harbour City meal with Steamed Rice (Price: 60php). My Favorite Empress Roll (Siomai Rolls wrapped in Cabbage, Price: 60php ) dipped in ginger sauce just makes you crave for another serving. My brother Edd's siomai pick is the bacon rolls(Price: 60php). As for the kids, they love Quail's Egg Siomai (Price: 60php).

Fried dished like Shrimp balls, crab pincers and spring rolls (Price: 60php per serving) are also a big hit amongst our family members.

Growing up in a family that uses MSG in the kitchen, Harbour City food is just nostalgic. Though our family has now been avoiding using and eating at restaurants that uses MSG, we still would agree to dine at Harbour City Dimsum once in a while. heheheehe.

Yakiniku @ Tempura

Restaurant: Tempura
Address: Sm Northwing North Reclamation Area Cebu City
Restaurant Type: Casual Dining
Food: Japanese, Yakiniku
Mode of payment: Cash/Card

August 15, 2009. It was Edd's birthday, MYOH 09 and SM Mallwide sale! Traffic was so heavy that it'll take you at least 30minutes just to find a parking space! wheeeew! Edd, Greg, Shake, Malot and I were starving after buying some stuff and decided to have yakiniku at Tempura.

We had California Maki (125php for 8pcs.) for our appetizer. I find Tempura's version of Cali Maki better than Teriyaki Boy! Tempura's California Maki has bigger slices of sweet mango and crab and I love their Japanese Mayo!

Shake and Greg were so hungry and can't wait for our yakiniku sothey ordered Katsudon (150php).

We ordered Tori(chicken, price: 195php) and buta (pork, price: 195php) Yakiniku! Loved the Buta Yakiniku! Thin pork strips marinated in special Japanese soy sauce!

And Kaisen Raisu(130php) tasted great! Semi chili- semi sweet with corn kernels, crunchy string beans and carrots topped with anchovies.

After our piggin out session at Tempura, we were then off to Jed Madela's Concert at the Waterfront!

Bistro's New Texas Bake Pasta

Restaurant: Pizza Hut Bistro
Address: SM Northwing North Reclamation Cebu City
Restaurant Type: Casual Dining
Food Class: Pasta, Pizza, Grill ( Mixed Ethnic- American, Italian, Spanish)

After E and Edd's Law class, we then met at SM Northwing for dinner. It was already 9:10pm and most restos were closed so we decided to dine at Pizza Hut Bistro. Since Shake, Greg and I already had our dinner at Don Merto's, we didn't order and became the official food tasters and scavengers of the night! LOL

My family and I usually dine at Pizza Hut Bistro after buying our groceries because my nephews and my neice love cheezy puff pizza! And everytime we dine at Bistro, there would be at least 2 orders of pasta, 1 order of salad, 1 family size pizza and 2 main entrees. Servings at Pizza Hut Bistro usually serves 2 basing on a Filipino diet.

My favorite pasta, so as with Edd and my sister, is Garlic and Shrimp Pasta. The winey-garlicky sauce infused with herbs and olive oil is heavenly! Sprinkled with minced parsely and topped with sauteed tropical shrimp!

The waiter had offered E the New Texas Baked Pasta and E was eager to try it! Spiral pasta in meatsauce topped with mozzarella cheese and strips of red bell pepper. I tasted a spoonfull of the texas bake and for some reason it tasted like pizza. : ) . Same as Bistro's Meatsauce Spaghetti and lasagna, it tasted like pizza to me.I guess it's because they use the same tomato sauce/paste and mozzarella cheese on both their pizza and pasta that's why they taste so alike. I am not a fan of Bistro's Meatsauce-based pastas because I don't like my pasta to taste like Pizza! But Pizza Hut's Lasagna Pizza is great!ME LUV LUV!

Mga Ka pigOut!

Say Prunes! hehehe. Greg, Shake, Edd, Kara and E!

Kara and E!

A Hearty Meal at Don Merto's

Restaurant: Don Merto's Deli and Resto
Restaurant Type: Casual Dining
Food: Steaks, Salads, Soups ( American/Italian)
Address: SM Northwing Branch North Reclamation Area Cebu City
Contact Number: +63.32.253-5563 | +63.32.253-5564

After Shake and I had Komodo Dragon Press drinking session at Starbucks, we then headed to Don Merto's for dinner. I ordered chicken asparagus soup and a quarter pounder Hearty Burger.

I started the meal with Ciabatta (Italian Bread) with butter spread.

Then I tried the Chicken Asparagus Soup (Price: 100php), my first time to order this at Don Merto's. The aroma of the soup was a combination of fresh spring onion and chicken broth. At first sip, a strong chicken taste clouded my mouth, which I did not enjoy. It was oily and tasted very close to chicken essence.

And my main entree, Don Merto's Quarter Ponder Hearty Burger (Price: 130php)! This is my 3rd time to order a Hearty Burger. I just love the soft Juicy beef patty! It's patty has a hint of ground pepper cancelling the greasy and oily after taste of the beef patty. Cheese, Grilled onion rings, lettuce and tomatoes are sandwhiched between the buns and the patty. Coleslaw, fries and Tomato catsup are served with the Hearty Burger.

And for dessert, everyone's all time favorite, BELGIAN CHOCOMINT COOKIES (Price: 597php for 600grams)! As per Greg, "Its Chocolate with cookies!" hahaha. Amazingly Delicious!

And yeah for those who love roast beef, you would enjoy the Don Merto's Eat All you Can Angus Roast Beef on Wednesdays and Eat all you can Prime Rib on Fridays! : )
